||The Use of Zirconia-based Solid Electrolytes Oxygen Sensor in High Titanium Slag

An oxygen sensor of zirconia-based solid electrolytes for in-situ measurements of oxygen potential in high titania slag was developed in the present work. With the facility, a series measurements of electromotive force(EMF) were successfully conducted for titanium slag with different composition at 1998K. And the stable oxygen potential in the slag was calculated by the simultaneous measured EMF and temperature using the corrected Nernst equation. Also, the relationship between compositions of the slag and the oxygen potential in the slag was studied. It has been found that the obtained oxygen potential increases with increasing FeO content in the slag and decrease with the increasing Ti2O3 content in the slag.The oxygen potential in the slag was calculated thermodynamically and compared with the sensor measurements. The result shown that oxygen potential in the slag may be determined by FeO/Fe equilibrium reaction.
