||Corrosion Behavior of Laser Surface Melted Inconel 718 Superalloy

In the present study, Inconel 718 has been subjected to laser surface melting using a 2 kW continuous wave (CW) Yb-Fibre laser. Laser surface treatment was carried out at power 320 watts and 1000 mm/min scan speed. The effects of process techniques like regarding heat input, travel speed, the power of the beam, etc. on grain boundary character distribution, crystallographic texture and corrosion behavior (in a 3.56 wt.% NaCjl solution) of Inconel 718 superalloy was also examined by electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) study and potentiodynamic polarization study. There appears strong texture along melt direction at 45 0 angles. The mechanism of corrosion has been investigated and correlated with process parameters.
