Abstract Scope Abstract: Shaft kilns have been extensively used in China for many years. They have used traditional operating methods consisting of manual adjustment of draft and fire. The largest shaft kiln has been operating for more than two years in one of Sunstone’s facilities. This calciner was designed using simulation technology. It consists of 19 furnaces with 4 pots in each furnace. The entire process from loading to feeding to discharge of material has been automated. The temperature and pressure of each flue is monitored and automatically adjusted for optimum performance using computer controlled algorithms. The result is a 28.5% increase in output and an increase in calcination yield rate of 2%. Keywords: Shaft kiln, simulation technology, anode, calcination yield rate
