||D-4: Self-healing in Super-tough Double Network Hydrogels

Hydrogel, especially double network hydrogel, has been attracted tremendous interests as artificial scaffolds because of its superior mechanical and shape properties. Two cross-linked networks in double network hydrogels can be designed by arranging inter/intra-molecular interactions and structures within and between two networks using a wide variety of polymeric monomers, cross-linkers, and cross-linked methods, thus their mechanical can be improved. Besides, mechanical properties, thermal reversible property is another important physical properties required in scaffold substitutes. In this study, a novel agar/poly(dimethylacrylamide) double network hydrogel is developed, which can be rejoined under 90oC temperature heating and maintain 64.1% of tensile stress, with the help of silica nanoparticles.
