Presentation Title Effect of Twin-Roll Casting Parameters on Mechanical and Microstructural Properties of AA5083-H321 Sheet

Abstract Scope The production of AA5083 aluminum alloy sheet in strain-hardened H321 temper by twin-roll casting (TRC) and cold rolling route was investigated. By selection of the proper casting parameters, an 8.90mm thick and 1260mm wide slab was produced by a 15 tilt-back twin-roll caster. After homogenizing at 520C, a sheet was cut from the slab and was subjected to a two-stage cold rolling process. An intermediate annealing at 370C separated the cold rolling stages. At last, the cold rolled sheet was stabilized at 180C, as final annealing. The mechanical properties of the final sheet were consistent with the ASTM B 209M requirements for AA5083-H321 sheets.
