| Abstract Scope |
MMFX 2 steel is used for uncoated, corrosion-resistant, high-strength steel-reinforcing products that meet or exceed the mechanical properties of ASTM A615 Grades 75 and 80, ASTM A1035/A1035 M, and AASHTO Standard Specification MP 18M/MP 18. MMFX 2’s material unique combination of properties of corrosion-resistance and high-strength result from the combination of its chemical composition and manufacturing process. Since 2001, MMFX 2 rebar has been used in various public infrastructure and public / private development projects in the United States, Puerto Rico, Abu Dhabi – United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Bahamas, and Canada. This presentation will provide the results of a material characterization study performed on MMFX 2 steel and will include mechanical properties from ASTM E8 tensile bars and full size tensile tests on #7 rebar, Charpy impact testing at various temperatures, metallographic examination and corrosion testing. |
