||Formation, Structure and Dynamics of Plastic Zr-based Bulk Metallic Glasses

Plastic bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) have been prepared for Zr-Al-Ni-Cu, Zr-Al-Ni-Cu-Nb, Zr-Cu-Fe-Al and Zr-Cu-Fe-Al-Nb alloys. The glass forming abilities, thermal stabilities and mechanical properties have been characterized. The local atomic ordering of these plastic Zr-based BMG alloys have been investigated by molecular dynamic simulation. The viscosities and fragilities of the superheated and undercooled melts for these Zr-based BMGs have also measured. The correlation between fragility and plastic strain has been established for these Zr-based BMGs alloys. And the deformation mechanism of plastic BMGs will be discussed in detail.
