||Microwave Melting of High Carbon Ferromanganese Fines

In order to study the melting process of high carbon ferromanganese fines, the microwave melting experiment was carried out with different particle size ,different final temperature and different holding time．The results show that the smaller alloy fines have better microwave heating characteristics, the materials with the size of -75μm can be heated to 1270℃ in 30min, In the temperature range of room temperature to 800℃,the average heating rate can reach to 80℃/min. The SEM analysis show that the fine particles were melted down firstly. Though the temperature lower than the melting point, liquid phase was obtained, So the product of 1160℃ have certain intensity. The final temperature and holding time have a great influence on the element contents of the ferromanganese alloy, it's chemical composition meet the standard of FeMn78C8.0 after microwave melting at 1260℃ for 10 min.
