In a binder jetting process, binder droplets are deposited on the powder bed to bind particles together for printing purposes. The droplets can have a rather high impacting speed, which can significantly disturb the powder bed and may cause various defects in the 3D printed parts. We have established a 3D numerical model to capture the coupled fluid/particles dynamics in binder jetting. The model will be used to investigate the physics regarding the binder-powder interaction during the process.
