Abstract Scope Computational materials engineering has been evolving rapidly over the past several decades to perform simulations of a material at various stages of its life cycle. Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) with upfront system design in a virtual system, component, and material and manufacturing virtual environment will provide for radical changes in how materials are defined, selected, developed and utilized. However chaining such calculations between different processing modeling often remains a challenge. In order to build an integrated simulation chain, a methodology is proposed to manage materials data between different manufacturing processes. Materials data management starts with an abstract description of the grammar of the material models, which is then exploited to configure a user graphical interface and derive an XML storage format. The proposed methodology will be illustrated with a series of examples in casting, heat treatment, stamping, welding, and crash simulations.
