| Abstract Scope |
A variety of methods are currently in use for testing material response under blast and high strain rate loading conditions. This paper is intended to review and compare these methods and their outcomes. While split-Hopkins pressure bar is extensively used for high strain rate testing, standardization in blast testing has not been achieved yet. Loading methods, specimen boundary conditions, specimen geometry, and pressure pulse profile vary widely in such tests. Mechanical properties and failure modes of fiber and particle reinforced composites will be discussed. |
