| Abstract Scope |
In this presentation I will review our work on CSD to prepare manganese oxide based nanomaterials by incorporating sol-gel based polymeric precursor solutions and track-etched polymer templates supported on top of single crystalline substrates. Because of the confined nucleation in high aspect ratio nanopores and of the high temperatures attained, new structures with novel physical properties are obtained. Under the proper selection of process conditions, heteroepitaxial strain control and interface chemical structure, our particular growth method has allowed the synthesis of La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 perovskite nanoislands, single crystalline MnO2 nanowires, and monoclinic molecular sieve LaSr-2×4 manganese oxide nanowires exhibiting ferromagnetic ordering with strongly enhanced Curie temperature (Tc > 500K) [1]. Moreover, the single crystalline LaSr-2×4 manganese oxide nanowires can be self-aligned and eptiaxially grown on stable fluorite substrates. [1] A.
