Abstract Scope |
The Northwest Fluminense has participated timidly in the manufacturing of ceramic artifacts market, although it is adjacent to the Polo Ceramic Campos dos Goytacazes, RJ. The objective of this work is the physical characterization (determination of fitness levels, grain size and bulk density), chemical (EDX), mineralogical (XRD) and thermal (DTA and TGA) clay found in Miracema in northwest Fluminense, to boost employment in the manufacture of red ceramic body for structural masonry. Also specimens were fabricated by the extrusion process prismatic in Civil Engineering Laboratory UENF burned at temperatures of 700°C, 800°C and 900°C for the determination of mechanical and physical parameters being held water absorption test, linear shrinkage and flexural strength to three points. The results suggest that the soil studied in this work has great potential for application in the production of structural ceramic artifact. |
