| Abstract Scope |
Research interest in waste heat conversion using thermoelectric materials has increased substantially in recent years partly because of the increasing gas price and of the effect of green house gas emission. For waste heat energy conversion applications, oxide materials which have high temperature stability are potential candidates. In this talk, we will describe the crystal chemistry and thermoelectric properties of a few series of alkaline cobaltites, most of which have low dimensional structure (layers or chains). Examples of these compounds include (Ca,M)3Co4O9 (M=Sr, La), An+2ConCo’O3n+3 (A= Sr,Ca), Can+2(Co,Zn)n(Co,Zn)’O3n+3 and BaRCo4O7 (R=lanthanides). |
