| Abstract Scope |
A new route for the fabrication of mullite ceramic at a low temperature (1300°C, in comparison to the conventional synthesis temperature of 1500°C ) was developed in this study. The feasibility of using rice hull and alumina as major raw material feedstock provides a superior cost-effective approach for commercial production of mullite. The sintering and soaking mechanisms were investigated, including the low sintering temperature. The phase transition during the development of the mullite ceramic was characterized by XRD and the morphology was observed by SEM. |
