Abstract Scope |
The Artificial Ornamental Stone widely used as an object of finishing in the civil construction, through the use of quarry waste, has presented advantages over the natural one. With the use of a material commonly discarded by the industry, through the vacuum vibro-compression method, a
material with interesting mechanical, physical and natural properties has been produced. The fine wastes from the mining and processing of ornamental stones and epoxy resin provided by CETEM are used. The process of making the specimens is part of the granulometric selection of the residues by means of the SIMPLEX type numerical modeling methodology for the maximization of particle packing. Plates of dimensions 100x100x10mm are produced for the tests, these are commonly used in the characterization of ornamental rocks for coating. Bending, compression and physical index values were higher than the minimum values established in standards. |
