The cyclic oxidation process was performed in a furnace atmosphere at 1100°C for 4 hours. After each cycle, the specimens were cooled inside the furnace. They were inspected and their peripheral conditions were observed. In case of any cracks or spallation in coating wedge the test has been stopped and the time was noted down then coating microstructure was studied.The oxidation test showed that composite coatings of YSZ-alumina having alumina as a mixed YSZ-alumina layer, have better resistance.
