Abstract Scope |
In this paper the formability properties of 6xxx series alloy extruded profiles are examined by means of optical microscopy and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). The role of the microstructure, especially of the grain size of the surface zone as well as the orientation of the Al grains are highlighted. The aim is to provide a correlation between the microscale features (grain size, phases morphology, orientation) and the induced formability of the extruded profile. |
