Abstract Scope A scandium rare earth ore belongs to the basic-ultrabasic rock mass, which the ore is mainly composed of sulfide, carbonate, oxide, silicate, with silicate accounting for about 89% of the total mineral. It is very difficult to concentrate this ore, because of the poor beneficiability of silicate and more dispersed scandium minerals. A separation method combined with magnetic and gravity was adopted, according to the sample size composition and occurrence state of scandium. An ideal separate index of scandium concentrates was obtained in this paper, with scandium grade of 81.37g/t and recovery rate of 70.31%. This separation method with largely removal rate of iron, titanium and other impurity elements, has created advantage for subsequent leaching-extraction purification process, and offered the reliable technological guarantee for reasonable development and utilization of this scandium mine.
