A review of the strategies adopted by the authors for high entropy alloys (HEAs) design is presented. Neural networks, genetic algorithms and Gaussian Processes are presented as tools for alloy discovery; these are combined with historical databases for physical properties such as melting point, lattice spacing, formation enthalpy to examine the compositional-dependence of HEAs. The usefulness of first principles calculations and interatomic potentials is discussed for HEAs discovery, and to enhance mechanical and corrosion properties. An outline of new alloys developed as a result of this methods is presented, along with perspectives for future work.
