Abstract Scope |
Corrosion has been a common issue in industry; this is especially true in coastal regions. It is imperative to develop a protective coating improving resistance of metals to corrosion in saline environment. In this work, polymer nanocomposite coatings with a polymer matrix filled with TiO2 nanoparticles were deposited on Al alloy. Corrosion performance of polymer nanocomposite coating-coated aluminum alloy samples in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution was evaluated. Corrosion rates were evaluated by potentiodynamic scanning and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Corrosion resistance of bare aluminum alloy samples was improved by the deposition of polymer nanocomposite coatings. In addition, the effect of nanoparticle anisotropy on corrosion performance was investigated. |
