||Adaptive Electrospinning: a Smart Electrospinning System for Low-cost and Scalable Flexible Electronics

A novel electrospinning concept is presented which will advance the state-of-the-art in electrospinning through adaptive electrospinning based on dramatically reduced applied voltage and residual charges in the electrospun fibers. This new electrospinning system that finds the optimal applied voltage and tip-to-collector distance(TTCD) depending on the size and complexity of the pattern in a continuous operation has the potential to revolutionize flexible sensors, and fiber-based energy harvesting as well as precise patterning.
Modeling and experimental verification of jet speed control and the residual charge will be demonstrated, including a basic description of the system that enables this innovation. Experimental examples of electric junction fabrication and piezoelectric energy harvesting using graphene will also be presented as examples of applications of flexible electronics.
