Effect of Si concentrations between 40-135 ppm on texture of rolled Nb sheets of 0.254 mm thickness is studied by electron back scatter diffraction (EBSD), and it is proposed that Si atoms may be pinning grains with <100>//RD. Furthermore, tensile tests were carried out to correlate the textural effects with mechanical properties. It is found that the anisotropic mechanical response (Lankford parameter or r-value) is affected linearly by the Si concentration, and the response is isotropic for a Si concentration of 85 ppm.
