Along with the world development, waste tires have become a serious environmental problem. There are about 2 billion waste tires produced all over the world every year and about 500 million waste tires are produced in the United States. Most of the waste tires are land filled. It takes hundreds of years to decompose the macromolecules of waste tires into the form which does not pollute the environment. Microwave irradiation may offer a non-polluting thermal processing way for waste tires decomposition. In this study, the microwave absorption characteristics of waste tires are investigated to find the suitable conditions for the waste tires microwave heating.
