Presentation Title Innovative Solutions to Produce Bioceramic Implants by 3D Printing
Author(s) Kenna Ritter, Peter Durcan
On-Site Speaker (Planned) Peter Durcan
Abstract Scope 3DCERAM has developed a unique 3D printing manufacturing process, based on laser stereolithography technology, to produce made-to-measure bioceramic cranial or jawbone implants. Enabling the production of implants with three-dimensional shapes in hydroxyapatite and tricalcium phosphates, materials widely renowned for their osteoconductive properties. Thanks to the unique process, 3DCERAM can produce bioceramic implants with porosity structured in three dimensions. The 3D printing process enables to control the location and geometry of porous areas and define a consistent diameter of pores. The clinical review made on more than 20 patients during 10 years for craniofacial surgery made by 3dprinting demonstrates:•Total biocompatibility of the materials produces by 3dprinting•Long term fixation and stability of the implant due to the bone growth into the porosity•A perfect aesthetic result for the cranioplasty reconstruction
