About this Abstract
Meeting Materials Science & Technology 2019
Symposium Failure Prevention and Unconventional Failures
Presentation Title Failure Prevention of High Strength Bolts
Author(s) Michael B. Connelly
On-Site Speaker (Planned) Michael B. Connelly
Abstract Scope A long-term review (27 years) of high strength bolt failures and their root causes will be presented. The presentation will cover material selection, cold heading, hot heading, thread rolling, heat treatment and plating processes. Customer assembly practices and their impact will also be discussed. A standardized protocol for evaluating fastener failure issues will be reviewed.
Proceedings Inclusion? Definite: At-meeting proceedings
