Additive Manufacturing is a fast growing technology, however the physical properties of materials created with this process are not easily specified in a traditional manner, like current castings and wrought products.
There are several opportunities in the manufacturing process to change the final physical properties, both in a positive and negative sense.
This project uses neutron and x-ray diffraction, rolling bending fatigue, and other physical property measurements to characterize the critical variables in the process to insure consistent quality.
