| Abstract Scope |
The treatment of plasma polymer surfaces has been applied in various fields of study such as electronics, textiles and medicine. Most of these applications use plasma low pressure and temperature. Because of the versatility of the plasma, the result of its interaction with the surface of the polymer changes the physical and chemical properties thereof. In this work chitosan membranes were modified by plasma, using the following gases: nitrogen (N2), methane (CH4), argon (Ar), oxygen (O2) and hydrogen (H2). The test samples were characterized by contact angle, atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy. Samples treated with N2, Ar, O2, H2 had higher hydrophilicity and roughness of the treated samples CH4. By SEM it was observed that treatment of N2, Ar, O2 and CH4 caused non-uniform porosity, while treatment with H2 caused a uniform porosity in the samples. |
