| Abstract Scope |
Welding is a traditional technology to deposit protective coatings onto metallic substrates. Traditionally accepted and widely used in aerospace industry, thermal spray has been increasingly required in many other industries such as automotive, petrochemical and oil & gas. Both technologies allow the use of several different techniques and several different types of feeding materials in such a large range of different forms and structures. Depending on the requesting characteristics of the environmental and service, an appropriated technology can be selected. This work deals with a study to evaluate the properties of coatings obtained by thermal spray as well as by welding using various feeding materials. Mechanical and tribocorrosion properties are presented and compared discussing the applicability of such coatings. |
