| Abstract Scope |
Cobalt based alloys are commonly used for high temperature application such as gas turbines. They are characterized by high-temperature creep resistance and heat resistance. Example of application discussed in this paper is locking pins of turbine bucket made of alloy is Co – Cr – W. Often occurring damage of the pins is connected with their fracture due to loss of ductility at elevated temperature. This paper presents a failure analysis of this type of pins where many laboratory techniques enriched by simulation experiments are utilized to provide root cause analysis and directions for prevention. The mechanism of ductility decrease for this alloy is also discussed. |
