||OO-58: Development of Die-casting Aluminum Alloy with High Thermal Conductivity for Cylinder Head

For down-sizing and high generating power of engine, management of heat efficiency would be focused on improving the fuel efficiency. Generally, it is well known for knocking phenomenon in gasoline vehicles that cause the decreasing of fuel efficiency. One of various solution to solve this situation is the increasing the thermal conductivity of cylinder head material that is made by die-casting aluminum alloy. To increase the thermal conductivity of aluminum alloy, the alloying elements such as Si, Cu, B and Mg control to form an adequate microstructure and also customize the heat treatment condition through the thermodynamic calculation. From these procedures, we could have the results for increasing the thermal conductivity of cylinder head alloy about 15% at 200℃ that comparing the commercial head alloy.
