Nano-voids have been reported to improve the mechanical properties of single crystal materials. Microstructural deformation mechanisms of single crystals along with void collapse mechanism for samples with single pore as well as samples with numerous pores subjected to different loading situations have also been investigated in literature. This work reports the effects on varying the neck region distance between two closed cell voids on the shock response of single crystal Cu. The origination of different types of dislocation mechanisms along with its densities and interactions have been investigated. The effect of the resulting plastic mechanisms in dissipating the shock wave energy has been identified in the work. Simulations have been run for different shock intensities, different crystal orientations, and different void dimensions as well as neck region dimensions to arrive at conclusions of this work.
