||High Volume Production Validation of Aluminum Tailor-welded Blanks

Production validation of aluminum tailor-welded blanks produced by high speed friction stir welding in dissimilar thickness sheet was completed for both linear and curvilinear weld paths. Having joined numerous alloy combinations in thicknesses from 0.8 mm to 4.0 mm, a detailed evaluation will report on process repeatability and durability for 1000 part run, demonstrating the scalability of the process for high volume applications. Performance repeatability and statistical analysis of weld properties will be reported along with other factors relevant to high volume production.
