||On the Selection of Optimal Quenching Temperature in Quenching and Partitioning (Q&P) Steels

The influence of quenching temperature on mechanical properties of a quenching and partitioning (Q&P) processed steel is reported. Thin austenite films in high mechanical stability distribute between fine martensite laths was observed at 190 °C, providing gradually transformation induced plasticity (TRIP) effect and contributing to high strength-ductility balance. A new method to select the optimum quenching temperature is proposed based on results of microstructural observation.
