Abstract Scope |
The incorporation of residue into the production of artificial stone can represent a technical economical and ecologically viable methodology, reducing the quantity of residue to be discarded in the environment, besides adding value. The objective was to develop artificial stone using vacuum, vibration and compression with properties that allow its use in civil construction. The resin used was the epoxy and the residue, gravel fines, provided by the Itereré quarry. The granulometry was divided into three different bands, and the Simplex experimental numerical modeling methodology was used for the best packaging. The artificial stone plates were produced in the dimensions of 100x100x10mm. The characterization consisted in analyzing the mechanical and physical properties. The results classify the high flexural strength material that was 32 Mpa, for high traffic coating and good physical properties that classify the material with high potential to be used as a coating. |
