| Abstract Scope |
The effect of H on the mechanical properties of a high Mn twinning-induced plasticity steel was evaluate by comparing the properties of H-free and H charged tensile specimens pre-deformed at different temperature. The H charging resulted in a reduction of the total elongation. The fracture surface of the H charged samples revealed an inhomogeneous fracture appearance with an intergranular fracture in the range of 10 to 20 μm below the sample surface. The observations strongly suggest that this brittle surface layer may be the cause of the reduction of elongation in H charged TWIP samples. The effect of H charging consitions and pre-strain temperature on the mechanical properties of Fe18Mn1.5Al0.6C TWIP steel were also discussed in this work. Besides, the effect of H on the microstructure of the TWIP steel was studied by Transmission Electron Microscopy. |
