||Industrial Experience of Sinter Hydro-chemical Processing at Bogoslovsk Alumina Refinery

Due to specific nature of processed raw material (diasporic high-carbonate and high sulphur-containing bauxite) at Bogoslovsk Alumina Refinery combined Bayer-sintering process is used for alumina production. To extract alkali and alumina from the sinter and remove sodium sulfate from the process complicated power-consuming process flow diagram is implemented.
As per new enabling process flowsheet sinter shall be simultaneously processed with the bauxite at Bayer hydrochemical area.
To determine process parameters a pilot facility was built. As per the new flowsheet ~10÷15t/h of sinter was grinded with various solutions in the ball mill and processed in bauxite digestion line. Three points of sinter slurry feeding points at autoclave train were tested.
The present work discusses the results attained at the pilot facility and suggests the prospective flowsheet for sinter processing.
