The sensitively composition dependent lattice mobilities of several oxide systems have been assessed (Fe-O, Cr-O, Al-O, Fe-Cr-O). A development version of DICTRA has been used to model oxide scale formation on metals and alloys. The modelling can predict the phase region sequence and results generally compare favorably with experiments. Several examples will be presented and discussed as well as compared with detailed microstructural investigations of both model alloys and commercial alloys.
