Abstract Scope |
NASA JPL and MSFC have been developing a flight experiment for the Materials Science Research Rack on the International Space Station to perform diffusion experiments on W-heavy bulk metallic glass-forming alloys. This work will discuss the proposed flight samples, show the experimental setup, and ground-based experiments to demonstrate why microgravity experiments are of interest in this alloy system. The objective will be to understand how gravity affects W diffusion in these alloys and to test wear properties of the alloys once returned from orbit. |
