Ion-irradiation combined with Transmission Electron Microscopy is a powerful tool to gain kinetics information on irradiation induced phenomena because the microstructure evolution of the irradiated material can be followed in-situ as the damage proceeds. Using this technique the microstructure evolution under irradiation was studied in advanced F/M steels (T91 and HT9) in terms of formation and evolution of clusters and loops and the spatial correlation of the defect structures with the pre-existing microstructure. In this presentation, kinetics data of irradiation induced defects will be presented to show the effect of temperature and dose on the defect formation and evolution.
