||Effect of S-EMS Current on Quality of Q235B Slabs

Nowadays, manipulation industries like shipbuilding, construction, automobile et al. are experiencing rapid evolution, which lead to extensive competition with quality. For them, plate is the base material, the quality of which are achieving widely attention, and irritating technique evolution in iron and steel making industry. One of these novel techniques, secondary cooling zone electromagnetic stirring (S-EMS) which developed by China, is utilized in the process of continuous casting as an effective way to increase the quality of slabs. The present work investigated the influence of operation current of S-EMS on the quality of the slab with real industrial data. To investigate the magnetic field distribution, a numerical model was developed to predict magnetic induction created by two pairs of face-to-face electromagnetic stirring rollers. Then, the data was analyzed to indicate the optimal operation current. With real industrial test, the recommended current proved to be effective in the slab quality improvement.
