Abstract Scope |
Magnetoelectric (ME) based multiferroics are widely studied in the recent years owing to their potential applications in developing various sensors. In this work we report the synthesis of the core-shell structure of cobalt-ferrite (CFO) and barium calcium zirconate titanate (BCZT) which has not yet been reported in the literature. A combination of Co-precipitation and sol-gel methods were adopted. Core/Shell nanoparticles of 15-25 nm size were obtained which was confirmed by XRD and TEM analysis. SEM micrographs show that the grain size of CFO and BCZT are ~1.5 µm and ~ 0.5 µm respectively. The density obtained at optimised sintering temperature was ~92% and it showed a magnetostriction of -56 ppm and strain derivative of ~0.4 x 10-9 A-1m. Hysteresis measurement showed a remnant polarization of 4.1µC/cm2 and coercive field of 18.44 kV/cm. Piezoelectric, Magnetization and Magnetoelectric coupling will be measured and compared with the properties of conventionally mixed CFO/BCZT composites. |
