||Effect of CaO/SiO2 on Properties of Tundish Fluxes

Tundish fluxes play s a more and more important role in the tundish metallurgy process, directly affecting the steel cleanliness of the steel products．Physiochemical properties of tundish fluxes are the key factor for thermal insulation, reoxidation protection, and inclusion absorption. In the current study, laboratory experiments were conducted to study the effect of CaO/SiO2 of tundish fluxes on melting properties. In order to study the absorption of Al2O3 inclusions by tundish fluxes, the sessile drop method was employed to measure the contact angle between tundish fluxes and the Al2O3 substrate. Phase diagram was calculated by FactSage thermodynamics software to predict the melting temperature of tundish fluxes. With the increase of basicity, the solidus and liquidus were increased firstly and decreased, and the absorption capacity of Al2O3 inclusions was improved.
