| Abstract Scope |
The stability of bubbles and the microstructures of sintered Si3N4 ceramic foams produced by direct foaming method were investigated. The purpose of the present investigation is to prepare Si3N4 porous ceramics by particle-stabilized foams, the key feature of particle-stabilized foams is the use of short-chain amphiphiles. High gas-pressure sintering is conducive to the development of the whisker-like microstructures in Si3N4 ceramic foams. The sintered Si3N4 ceramic foams with the whisker-like microstructure will be quite promising for improving the mechanical strength of the ceramics by a simple and safe way. |
