||LL-16: Analysis of Absorption in Cardboard Tubes

In search of the feasibility of using cardboard tubes in engineering projects, it became necessary to study the deepening of this material. Following the rules of the NBR, absorption assays were performed with unprotected samples and protected by waterproofing. In bibliographic support, we had as guidance publications made by Shigure Ban, famous Japanese architect who uses and advocates the feasibility of building from cardboard tubes. They were used in the tests, cardboard tubes with a thickness of 4 mm, which are collected in graphic and Itaperuna region. The results for absorption unprotected samples, ranging from 140.04 to 153.31 (%). For waterproofed samples were found values between 81.05 to 96.51 (%). The results showed a significant difference in absorption between the two analyzed specimens. It concludes that there is importance of applying waterproofing agents before the making of the project.
