||Use the Full Potential of the CALPHAD Modeling Tools

While the CALPHAD-based modeling tools have been available for more than 20 years, how much have they been really used for alloy design and development? Even though the CALPHAD method was initiated as an approach for phase diagram calculation, it has now been applied to a variety fields of materials science and engineering. The modeling tools developed by this approach have extended their capability from phase diagram calculation to diffusion, precipitation, and solidification simulation. However, these powerful tools have not been used to their full potentials. In this presentation, we will use examples to demonstrate how we can use these tools for alloy design and process optimization. New and unique features of these modeling tools will be highlighted.
