Abstract Scope Advanced UltraSupercritical (A-USC) Steam coal fired power plants will operate at 760C, which requires Ni-based superalloys like Haynes 282 alloy for critical steam turbine components. Haynes 282 alloy has be processed as a 10,000 lb triple-melt ingot forged into discs for the turbine rotor application, and has been cast as a 17,000 lb ingot for the steam valve body and turbine casing applications. Forged Haynes 282 alloy has an extremely refined grain size that provides very high tensile and HCF properties, but reduces the creep-resistance by about 25% relative to material with a normal grain size. The cast Haynes 282 alloy has an extremely coarse grain size that varies within the component according to cooling rate. This paper will summarize current testing and results and indicate future plans for additional testing.
