| Abstract Scope |
Potassium sodium niobate (KNN) films have received increasing attention as KNN-based bulk materials have been extensively studied as a promising lead-free piezoelectric system. To develop high-performance KNN-based piezoelectric films by clarifying the crystallographic orientation dependence of electrical properties, sol-gel-processed KNN-based thin films were fabricated on Nb-doped SrTiO3 substrates with different crystallographic orientations through an alkoxide-based route. Experimental results indicated the appearance of polycrystalline growth and epitaxial growth during the crystallization of KNN thin films. These two distinctive growth modes occurred under different thermal conditions respectively. Piezoelectric and ferroelectric responses for both textured (polycrystalline growth) and epitaxial (epitaxial growth) KNN films were detected. Difference of electrical properties in films with different orientations was contributed to the ferroelectric domain structure and domain wall motion. Li-doping and Mn-doping effects in KNN system were also investigated in this work. |
