In this work, a multiphase mathematical model of argon-stirred steel ladles was established and validated by experimental data using Wood’s metal. Alloy dispersion and inclusion motion in the molten steel were investigated. The melting and mixing time of alloy was reduced by decreasing the size of the alloy particles, increasing steel superheat and increasing the slip velocity. The removal of inclusions to the top slag by attachment to rising bubbles was calculated.
