||C-11: Effect of Mg and Cu Additions into ADC12 on the Mechanical Properties during Heat Treatment after Die-casting

Weight reduction of automobile becomes very attractive due to CO2 regulation and fuel efficiency. The Mg and Cu are restrictively added in ADC12 due to cast fluidity and material price. Recently, heat treatment is properly conducted for enhancement of mechanical property. Some elements such as Mg, Si and Cu are quite important role in the formation of precipitate during heat treatment. In this study, aluminum alloys are fabricated by die-casting. The alloys consist of different ratio of Mg and Cu. The precipitates are formed during heat treatment after die-casting. The improved mechanical property is analyzed based on the ratio of Mg and Cu using tensile and Vickers hardness measurements.
